About July’s Wellbeing Theme: Prioritize

Here’s Your Admin Strategy Guide for July 2025

Traditional Definition of Prioritize: To arrange or deal with in order of importance.

How We’re Thinking About It: Focusing on what truly matters—at work, in life, and for our wellbeing.

Why Prioritization Matters at Work

When everything feels urgent, real progress stalls. Without clear priorities, employees can get caught in a cycle of constant task-switching, shallow work, and mounting frustration. This lack of focus doesn’t just drain individual energy—it slows decision-making and makes it harder for teams to move forward effectively.

On the flip side, when employees possess a clear understanding of what is truly important and have the time and resources to concentrate on it, they can direct their energy towards tasks that have a significant impact. Organizations that support clear priorities empower employees to set boundaries, work with intention, and avoid burnout—turning effort into results, not just activity.

July, often a natural pause in the year, offers the perfect moment to reassess, realign, and make room for what’s most important in work and in life.

Bringing the Theme to Life

  • ⚖️ Rethink Urgency vs. Importance—Not everything needs to be done immediately. Help employees explore prioritization frameworks like the Eisenhower Matrix (urgent vs. important) to focus on meaningful work instead of constant firefighting.

  • 🚫 Introduce a "Stop Doing" Initiative—Sometimes the most powerful prioritization tool is deciding what not to do. Encourage team leaders to cut down on recurring meetings or outdated processes that no longer add value—and make those wins visible to the team.

  • 🏖️ Make Time for Personal Priorities—Employees do their best work when they have time to recharge, but making time for personal life can feel impossible. Try quarterly personal priority days, giving employees space to step away from daily tasks and focus on what fuels their personal or professional growth.

What Else is Happening This Month?

With mid-year reviews, summer vacations, and national observances, July is a great time to focus on balance and prioritization:

  • 🎆 Independence Day (July 4, U.S.)—A built-in reminder to unplug and honor personal priorities outside of work. Make sure employees feel supported in taking true time off.

  • 🫠 National Workaholics Day (July 5)—Start a conversation about boundaries. It’s a great moment to challenge hustle culture and normalize rest as a productivity tool.

  • 🧘‍♀️ International Self-Care Day (July 24)—Prioritization doesn’t stop at the to-do list—it includes your wellbeing too. Consider offering a “Self-Care Day Off” or sharing simple ways to reset and recharge.

  • 👨‍👩‍👧 Parents’ Day (July 27)—Acknowledge the realities of working parenthood. Spotlight your caregiver benefits or explore ways to support flexibility, focus time, and a family-friendly culture.

  • 🧴 UV Safety Month—Spending time outdoors can support focus, mood, and energy. Encourage screen breaks outside, but don’t forget the SPF. A little sun-smart planning goes a long way.
