About August’s Wellbeing Theme: Healing
Here’s Your Admin Strategy Guide for August 2025
Traditional Definition of Prioritize: The process of making or becoming sound or healthy again.
How We’re Thinking About It: Acknowledging hardship and creating space for recovery and repair, both individually and collectively.
Why Healing Matters at Work
Healing isn’t a word we often hear in the workplace, but it belongs there. Work is demanding, and over time, stress and setbacks take a toll. Beyond work itself, many employees are carrying unseen burdens, from personal challenges to the emotional weight of an increasingly difficult world.
But healing isn’t just about fixing what’s broken. It’s about creating a culture that normalizes recovery, whether that means taking time off after a busy season, going to the doctor, or having the support of a coworker.
When workplaces make space for healing and recovery, employees are not only more satisfied, they show up with more clarity, energy, and purpose.
Bringing the Theme to Life
⚖️ Help Managers Support Healing
Train managers in emotional first aid: the ability to recognize burnout and mental health warning signs. Encourage 1:1 check-ins that focus on energy levels, not just productivity, and equip managers with resources to support recovery.🏖️ Rethink How Employees Use PTO
Enforce a no-contact vacation policy to ensure employees can fully disconnect. If your team struggles with this, set clear expectations that employees on PTO should only be contacted in true emergencies.🏖️ Encourage “Recovery Time” After High-Stress Work
After major projects, busy seasons, or company transitions, give employees space to reset. This could mean a lighter meeting load, a recovery day, or deep work time instead of jumping into new tasks and projects.

🏆 Community Challenge
The August Healing Challenge
Life can leave us scraped up and stretched thin. Healing isn’t about toughing it out—it’s about tending to what’s tender. This month-long challenge invites you to take one step each day to care for what’s worn down, stressed out, or quietly aching inside you.
👥 Community Workshop Series
Making Space to Heal Workshop Series
We can’t heal what we don’t acknowledge. We’ll create space to notice what’s feeling heavy—stress, grief, disconnection, etc.—and explore how connection, community, and collective care contribute to healing.

What Else is Happening This Month?
With the transition from summer to fall, August is a powerful time to focus on renewal. Here are some meaningful observances to highlight:
🛁 National Relaxation Day (August 15)
Celebrate doing less. Encourage small breaks or a legit PTO day, and model it by blocking your own calendar for a slow-start morning or midday break.👵 World Senior Citizen’s Day (August 21)
Healing evolves as we age. Share resources on healthy aging, caregiving benefits, and ways employees can learn from older colleagues’ lived experience.💪Women’s Equality Day (August 26)
Achieving equality is an ongoing journey. Spotlight recent wins for gender equity at work, then outline one tangible next step, like reviewing pay across your team or expanding mentorship circles.🏥 Grief Awareness Day (August 30)
Healing includes acknowledging grief and loss. Make room for acknowledgment and recovery. Remind managers of grief-friendly policies, plug your EAP or mental-health resources, and normalize check-ins that start with, “How are you, really?”📅 National Wellness Month
Turn small, realistic habits into a month-long experiment. Invite teams to choose one daily reset: stretch between meetings, drink more water, or set a phone-free lunch, then share wins in a Slack thread!💉National Immunization Awareness Month
Prevention is quiet self-care. Post clear guidance on recommended vaccines and offer flex time for appointments, reminding your team that staying up to date protects coworkers and families alike.
