About October’s Wellbeing Theme: Reflection

Here’s Your Admin Strategy Guide for October 2025

Traditional Definition of Reflection: Serious thought or consideration.

How We’re Thinking About It: Seeing what has shaped you, learning from what you’ve done, and noticing how it informs your next steps. It’s about looking back to look forward.

Why Reflection Matters at Work

Modern work rarely slows down long enough for reflection. Deadlines pile up, projects roll forward, and employees often move from one task to the next without pausing to consider what worked, what didn’t, and what they want to carry into the future. Without these moments of thought, we miss out on great opportunities for wisdom, growth, and meaning.

When workplaces make space for reflection, employees can better recognize their achievements, learn from challenges, and connect their daily work to bigger goals. Reflection also supports mental health by helping people process stress and regain perspective instead of getting stuck in a downward spiral.

October is a natural month for reflection. The shift in seasons invites a pause before the sprint towards the end of the year. It’s an ideal time to take stock of progress, acknowledge effort, and reset intentions for the months ahead.

Bringing the Theme to Life

  • 💪 Build in Reflection Routines
Encourage employees to end the week with a 10-minute “look back/look ahead” check-in: What went well? What was difficult? What will I do differently next week?

  • 🔄 Make Reflection a Team Habit
Host a quarterly retrospective or “lessons learned” session, where teams identify what to start, stop, and continue. This helps strengthen collaboration and continuous improvement.

  • 🤝 Celebrate Small Wins
Create space in meetings for employees to share one thing they’re proud of from the past month. Recognizing moments of pride boosts morale and encourages growth.
